Executive Director Mary Zolno joined Pomeroy Living in January 2019 but has been the Executive Director at our Sterling Assisted & Memory Care community since July of 2018. Mary brings to this position over 35 years in Executive Administration in the hospitality industry with a strong background in customer service, employee relations and financial oversight. Mary’s passion for Senior Living came as the result of spending time researching senior communities for her mother from Assisted Living to Memory Care creating a desire to ensure families were able to receive the highest quality of care from someone who understood their concerns.
Mary is focused on providing families and residents with a superior quality experience taking into consideration the need for open communication, compassion and first class care. Pomeroy’s standard for all aspects of resident care is each staff member should provide the level of care they would expect for the ones they love.
Mary has been married to her wonderful husband Roy for 34 years who continually supported her in the care of her mother and father. They are the proud parents of 3 young men all living in the metro Detroit area. They love to travel and are avid dog lovers and owners.
Tammy graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration. After graduating Tammy dedicated her career to helping and educating families looking for placement for their loved ones. This dedication comes from her experience with her own mother who she lost 13 years ago. She made a promise to be the shining for those she encounters.
Tammy joined Pomeroy Living in 2018 as the Leasing Director. She comes with 25 years of experience in the senior care industry and sees her career not as a job but as personal fulfillment.
Tammy was born in Michigan and is married with 2 lovely boys who fill her days with joy and happiness. During her free time she loves to workout, go fishing, biking and enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.
Cathy J. Sterba, MSN, BSN, RN earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the University of Phoenix in 2002 and her Master’s Degree in Nursing and Nursing Education from University of Phoenix in 2016.
Cathy began her healthcare career as a Scrub Technician in a Surgery Center and later became am Ambulatory Surgery Center Accreditation Consultant. She also acted as Consultant in opening a new Hospice Healthcare company. Cathy has served as the Director of Nursing for a skilled nursing facility in Ann Arbor for several years.
Cathy’s hobbies include kayaking and kayak racing. She has an herb garden containing 28 different herbs and communicates with her deaf Australian Cattle Dog named LittleBear using sign language.
Nicole’s journey began in 2013 while pursuing her Associate’s Degree in Mental Health/Social Work. She was assigned an Internship at a local Assisted Living community and fell in love with the seniors. Nicole spent many hours listening and learning through the stories the residents shared with her. She knew then that working with seniors was where she belonged.
Nicole came to work in our community in 2017 as an Activity Assistant. She was promoted to Activity Director in 2019. She has dedicated herself to listening and learning about the lives and experiences of our residents and is committed to providing them a superior quality of lift through Activities and daily engagement. Nicole is a Certified Activity Director and Certified Dementia Practitioner and takes pride in developing programs that encourage our Seniors to live their best lives.
Chef Kelly has over 20+ years of experience in the culinary field. He went to Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Pittsburgh, PA. Over his career he has catered to restaurants, hospitals, hotels, and senior living/acute care rehabilitation. He has been in senior living for the past 3 years and has a true passion to ensure the residents are catered to throughout their dining experience.
Joshua is new to Pomeroy Living and joined the team in January of 2021. Joshua comes to Pomeroy Living with a background in skilled nursing. He values strong relationships with staff and doing whatever it takes to keep operations running. Joshua attended St. Clair Community College for three years and then transferred to Walsh College of Business and Accountancy where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration and a certificate in Human Resources Management. He believes in creating a culture of positivity and an inclusive environment.
On his free time Joshua likes to travel, workout, and hangout with family. Coming from a small-town environment he tries to instill that family like culture where ever he goes. Joshua looks forward to beginning a great career with Pomeroy Living Sterling Assisted!
Stephanie Noble came to our building as a Housekeeper in 2015 and with time and dedication she is now the Housekeeping Director and oversees a staff of 6.
Working with seniors has been a passion for Stephanie since she got her first job at 16 as a Dietary Aide in a senior living community. She has cared for both her parents and grandparents through end of life and has experience with dementia and hospice care.
Stephanie was married for 10 years to her husband John who unexpectedly passed away in 2008. Stephanie dedicated her life to raising their children. When she was ready to work there was no doubt she would return to senior living doing what she loved. Stephanie and her staff dedicate themselves on a daily basis to providing our seniors with a clean and safe community.
Dr. Alatassi is a board-certified Internist serving the adult and geriatric communities of Macomb and Oakland counties in Southeast Michigan since 2003. He graduated with his medical degree from Aleppo University in 1997. Dr. Alatassi then went on to complete residency training at Aleppo University in 1999 and an Internal Medicine residency at St John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan in 2003. Dr. Alatassi maintains affiliations with Ascension health systems and Beaumont health systems. Dr. Alatassi is a partner and member of the Board at Great Lakes Geriatrics, where he has worked since 2015. Dr. Alatassi takes great pride in his work and serving the community.
